SamTrans Local Investment Plan Survey

This November, there may be a regional transit measure on the ballot. If it qualifies for the ballot and passes, approximately $50 million will come to SamTrans every year for 14 years for public transit purposes. 

SamTrans wants to hear your priorities for how these funds should be spent in San Mateo County.  Take the survey on SamTrans' website, which is available in multiple languages. Survey closes on April 30.

Previous City Surveys

In 2024, the City released a request for proposals to conduct a assessment of San Bruno's parks and prepare recommendations for their improvement and maintenance. At the end of 2024, MIG was awarded the contract and began reviewing City parks, engaging the community, and developing analyses.

These results were first presented to the City Council in March 2025. 1,113 responses were received in a survey conducted by MIG, 1,000 of which were San Bruno residents. Respondents overwhelmingly supported the replacement or repair of old and worn park amenities. Adding more features to park, increasing maintenance, and improving trails were also important to respondents.

From this and other respondent data, staff and MIG recommended to the City Council that we prioritize:

  • playground replacements
  • improvement of athletic facilities, e.g. tennis and basketball courts, baseball and softball fields, multiuse fields
  • improvement of ADA accessibility for parks and recreational areas

Another important aspect of responses was support for dog-friendly amenities, and the City is actively pursuing ways to enhance or add pet amenities to City parks.

The City approached Godbe Research to conduct a statistically significant survey of San Bruno residents (n = 400) likely to vote in the 2026 election to identify key priorities and sentiments about city services and potential ballot initiatives. Respondents were selected at random and contacted via phone call or text message. Respondents were randomly selected to match the overall demographics of San Bruno's residents to provide a representative sample of the City.

Data and findings were presented at the City Council's special meeting on January 13, 2026. Top items included 911 response, street pavement quality, and quality or variety of restaurants and businesses.

The City, at the recommendation of the Council Ad Hoc Committee on Downtown Engagement (Marty Medina and Sandy Alvarez), conducted an online survey of San Bruno residents, shoppers, property owners, and business owners. The survey was opened on December 9, 2025 and responses were accepted through December 31, 2025. The survey was advertised in the City Manager's newsletter, social media posts, and flyers distributed to residents and businesses along San Mateo Avenue.  359 responses were received, the overwhelming majority of which were City residents.

The results of this survey will be presented at the City Council's regular meeting on January 27, 2026.
