Classes
The Community Services Department is dedicated to building strong communities through the provision of educational, creative, and recreational opportunities. San Bruno Community Services Department utilizes independent Contract Instructors to provide recreational services to our community. Programs maybe designed for preschoolers, school age children, teens, adults, families, and mature adults.
Seasonal Activity Guides are published with available programs for all ages. Alternatively, available activities can be found and registered for on our registration site.

Sports Leagues
Join the fun with our seasonal recreational sports leagues designed for everyone! Emphasizing enjoyment over competition, these leagues offer a fantastic way to stay active and make new friends. We have something for all ages: energetic leagues for elementary school kids, exciting options for middle schoolers, engaging activities for adults, and vibrant programs for those 50 and over. Get ready to play, laugh, and experience the thrill of teamwork.

Elementary Sports Leagues
Coed Basketball
- 5-on-5 basketball league is open to all 2nd and 3rd graders.
- League runs February - April.
- Practices take place at elementary schools, with days determined by coach schedules and school registration.
- Practice days and times are set by the coach based on facility availability.
- Parents or guardians are responsible for supervising participants before and after practices.
Coed Volleyball
- The 6-on-6 volleyball league is open to all 2nd to 5th graders.
- League runs March - May
- Practices will take place at San Bruno Park School District campuses.
- Practice days will be set according to the coach's schedule and school attendance.
- Games are held on Fridays at Parkside Gym and in Millbrae.
- Parents or guardians are responsible for supervising participants before and after practices.
Coed Flag Football
- The SanBrisBrae Elementary Sports League welcomes athletes to Elementary Flag Football! Teams from San Bruno, Millbrae, and Brisbane will compete.
- Practices are one hour long for the last two weeks of September at San Bruno City Park, between baseball diamonds #1 and #2. In October and November, practices and games will be held weekly for 45 minutes at either San Bruno City Park or Taylor Middle School Field, depending on the game schedule.
- Participants must provide their own masks. All registered athletes will receive a team shirt as part of the registration fee.
- Parents or guardians are responsible for supervising participants before and after practices.
Middle School Sports Leagues
San Bruno Middle School leagues, run by the San Bruno Recreation Division, will compete in the North County Recreation League (NCRL) against teams from Millbrae, Burlingame, Hillsborough, South San Francisco, and Brisbane. Programs are open to students from Parkside Intermediate, private schools in San Bruno, and San Bruno youth not enrolled in local Park Schools.
This recreation league emphasizes skill development and a positive experience; no prior experience is required. Participants will receive a team jersey, and all must follow NCRL gym and field policies.
- Eligibility must be cleared and will be monitored by school administration. There will be no refunds for students that become ineligible due to GPA or behavior.
- Registered adults will receive league information via email upon registration.
- No refunds will be issued after practices begin.
- Parents or guardians must supervise participants before and after practices, ensuring they are not left unattended.
- Evaluations by grade level will occur before each season, and practice days will be communicated after evaluations, based on coach schedules and facility availability.
Basketball
- Basketball League is open to middle school students in 6th, 7h, & 8th grade.
- League runs October - January.
- Player evaluations will determine which team placement.
- Game dates and times will be decided by the N.C.R.L. Board of Directors. Game schedules are typically distributed one week before games begin.
Badminton
- League runs April - May.
- Evaluations will be held to determine team placement.
- Practices are held at the San Bruno Recreation & Aquatic Center Gym (251 City Park Way).
- Game dates and times will be decided by the N.C.R.L. Board of Directors. Game schedules are typically distributed one week before games begin.
Golf
- League runs April - May
- Practices are held at the San Bruno Golf Center (2101 Sneath Lane).
- All matches will be played at Mariners Point Golf Course (2401 E 3rd Avenue, Foster City, 94404).
- Game dates and times will be decided by the N.C.R.L. Board of Directors. Game schedules are typically distributed one week before games begin.
Track & Field
- League runs April - May
- Practices are held at the Capuchino High School track.
- Meet dates and times will be decided by the N.C.R.L. Board of Directors.
Coed Flag Football
- League runs September - October.
- Teams must have a minimum of 10 players and a maximum of 10 players.
- Participant evaluations will be held to determine team placement based on skill level.
- Scrimmage Games will begin the first week of October and will fall on weekdays, 1 - 2 times per week.
- Scrimmage Games will be played at Parkside Middle School (1801 Niles Avenue) and away at the opponent's designated home field.
Coed Volleyball
- League runs September - October.
- Teams must have a minimum of 8 players and a maximum of 9 players.
- Player evaluations will be held to determine team placement based on skill level.
Cross Country
- League runs September - October.
- Teams must have a minimum of 10 players.
- No evaluations are needed
- Participants of all grades will practice together, but will compete within their grade and gender.
- Meets will be held in Burlingame, Millbrae, Pacifica, and San Bruno.
Adult Sports Leagues
Softball
- Adult Softball is offered throughout each season, annually.
- Each season is scheduled as double round robin (5 team league).
- Games are played Monday, Wednesday, and Friday nights at Lions Field at the end of 1st Avenue.
- Open D League is Recreational Softball available to teams made up of all genders without a required number of any gender in terms of fielding and batting position.
- Previous season teams will be given priority, only with full payment and completed team packet. Completed packet without full payment will not guarantee your spot in the league.

- Full registration includes completed packet and team fee in full.
- Winter League: January - April
- Spring League: April - June

Join the team and make a difference! We're seeking enthusiastic volunteer coaches for our elementary and middle school teams in volleyball, basketball, flag football, golf, cross country, and field sports! If you’re at least 17 years old and have a negative TB test from the past four years, we want to hear from you!

San Bruno City Park is located at 251 City Park Way. You may also use the cross streets of Crystal Springs Avenue and Oak Avenue.
- How do I sign up for seasonal youth sports leagues?

Although youth sports' sign-ups are normally held at the Recreation Division, the individual sports organizations actually process the registrations. The Recreation staff never takes registrations for non-departmental youth sports. Youth sports' contact names and phone numbers can be found in the Recreation Services Department Quarterly Activity Guide.
All elementary and middle school participants are required to submit a Health History Form, valid for 1 year.
